Penny Williams has been involved in the Tasmanian Dairy Industry since 1997 when she arrived fresh faced out of Massey University in New Zealand after completing her Thesis in Farm Management on ‘Rapport Building used by an Expert New Zealand Farm Management Consultant' and the findings were presented at the International Farm Management Conference the following year by Penny herself.

This Thesis put her in good stead for her first Australian Dairy Industry Position based in Smithton as the local Dairy Advisor with the Department of Primary Industries running the monthly 12 local discussion groups including facilitating the Tasmanian Dairy Business Management Group and instigating the very first Ladies Dairy Discussion Group in Australian Dairying after seeing an area that was missing. Having grown up on a 250 registered Jersey cow family dairy farm (and milking the herd from the age of 12) in the Goulburn Valley, Penny understood the issues on the farm and was able to build valuable relationships quickly with dairy farmers.

Penny then travelled overseas for 12 months looking at Dairying in European Countries and ventured back to Tasmania to become the only Dairy Consultant for a highly respected Sales and Consultancy company where it was her first introduction to fee for service.

She enjoyed this role and then began building a Tasmanian Dairy Farm Consultancy business in May of 2002 and has thrived with her integrity and empathy in building a reputable fee for service consultancy business covering Tasmania.

Initially the fee for service work was covering feed budgets, grazing rotation lengths, nutrition work, cashflows, business planning, fertiliser planning and over the years as the industry has increased its herd size to today of nearly being an average of 700 cows - her business has grown into assisting dairy farmers with their People Needs (workforce retention, understanding the Pastoral Award 2020, assisting with why people work for you, why they don't along with discussing different personality styles) and becoming one of the two Leading Dairy Consultants in the People Factor on Australian Dairy Farms. Her consultancy covers also Profitable and Sustainable dairying in the Tasmanian and Australian Dairy Industry. Penny's life thrives on the Tasmanian and Australian Dairy Industry, its People, Dairy Cows and Grass! Being a farmer herself makes all the difference!
